In 1974, the Old Sacramento Dixieland Jubilee was founded but as times changed, and, well, frankly, the old timers started heading to the big room upstairs, event producers realize
d that they needed to shift gears if they were going to stay afloat. So after 30 odd years of running a strict Dixieland format, they decided to open the doors and let some youngblood, newblood and rock 'n' roll based bands get in the action.
Another change is the departure from booking wide-spread national and international acts, and opting up more to the local scene with such notables as, The Beer Dawgz, High Sierra Jazz Band, Jimmy Pailer Band and the local but legendary Johnny "Guitar" Knox.
