NorCal’s HardNox To Play Sold Out Show
Brotherly MC duo signs to label and heads to Sacramento May 4
May 3, 2008
The first gig we did with HardNox was an informal tour around Lake Tahoe in the summer of 2004. When all was said and done, they got booked at MontBleu’s showroom where they opened for E 40, and the nightclub, Blu. Before that, they performed at Squaw Valley’s only nightclub, ZenBu where local ladies went nuts on the dance floor for tunes like “White Girl Who Can Dance.” Eventually, they became a regular with DJ Slick D on New Year’s Eve at Hard Rock on Stateline. Squaw Valley’s Cushing Classic Gives New Meaning To Shredding
April 26, 2008
This weekend, Squaw Valley hosts the notorious Cushing Classic (18th Annual on April 27th). Goofy getups, rock-skis and bansai bombers glide, or at least try, over Lake Cushing. The winner gets $100 bucks, but what it’s really about is bragging rights and fun.
Meanwhile up at High Camp the lagoon pool is now open and when paired with the bar, Olympic ice skating rink, BBQ, restaurants, DJ and warm sun, this experience is umatched.
48Straight’s Loudest Show on Snow Hits The Right Notes
Fans, bands and pros and brands mix it up at Squaw Valley, next stop… Sun Valley, Idaho
February 15, 2008
“The vibe here at Squaw is great.”
- Ken Jordan (The Crystal Method)
About the only thing missing from the official 48Straight party itinerary was sleep. The musical lineup sounded like a slice of Coachella by night. By day an international field of skiers and snowboarders competed for a piece of the $250,000 purse. And all up in the middle of it was 100” of pack on the summit left behind in the wake of January’s storms creating bluebird conditions for all. Welcome to Olympic Valley, home to Squaw Valley’s finest.
Plenty of locals took top spots against a deep field of international champs and X Game veterans. Shaun Palmer (SLT), Nate Holland (Truckee), held it down in boarder-cross. In the skier half pipe, Canadian sex symbol Sarah Burke took first amongst women with New Zealand’s Jossi “The Outlaw” Wells nabbing top honors over legendary Simon Dumont who was still recovering from a shoulder injury sustained just a few weeks ago at X Games 12. Skier cross top honors went to Tomas Kraus (Czech), and local Squaw skier Eroll Kerr (TRUCKEE) took the consolation round placing 5th overall.
Sunday morning, Sacvibe caught up with half of The Crystal Method, Ken Jordan. When asked what he was doing, he said he was getting some water and pain-reliever. He went on to say…
“We didn’t know what to expect. It’s a small community you know? We didn’t know if they’d be into it. We didn’t know if they were expecting to hear Top 40 or whatever. We don’t have any Top 40. We don’t have any hip-hop. We just did whatever we always do, it was amazing. The crowd was amazing, great crowd. I had a great time.”
You can catch the entire competition on CBS February 23 and 24 at 4 pm PDT.

The American version is from New York and has quite a different story; three guys with day jobs as caterers took to the streets performing short skits that eventually landed them a paid gig to create a full-length show after the New York Times said of their shorts, “deliriously antic blend of music, painting and clowning”.
